Welcome to Kafuta Tumbung School Trust.!!
Kafuta Tumbung is a village deep in the Gambian countryside. The school project began with a chance visit to the village by Derick and Lisa in January 2012, with the creation of the Nursery School (40 students in 2 class rooms) opening in September of that year.
We built a new Lower Basic School (6 classrooms, library and Headmasters office) on the same plot and opened to the students in 2023. We now have 200+ children in full time education with every Lower Basic student sponsored by our amazing supporters.

Much needed floor tiling
Both schools
The tiling of the classrooms has long been on our to do list, and with the amazing fund raising of a sponsor and the Chichester Harbour Rotary they raised enough to tile the entire Nursery school.!! This will make a tremendous difference to the longevity of the classrooms and work has started on completing the Lower Basic buildings.
Back to school.

The students and teachers are now back in the classrooms and continuing their education., having moved up a Grade. I think you will agree they all look very smart in their new uniforms.
20 of our students have moved up from the Nursery to the Lower Basic. Could you sponsor one of these children.?

Karl and Darren have made 2 visits to the project recently and we are pleased to report they have delivered: chairs for the teachers, bowls for the kitchen, an office chair for our long serving teacher Mr Baldeh, sanitary pads for the older girls and shoes for ALL of the nursery children thanks to the Shoe Fund.
The best way for young children to learn is always through song.!!
