Welcome to Kafuta Tumbung School Trust.!!

Kafuta Tumbung is a village deep in the Gambian countryside. The school project began with a chance visit to the village by Derick and Lisa in January 2012, with the creation of the Nursery School opening in September of that year.

We built a new Lower Basic School on the same plot and opened to the students in 2023. We now have 200+ children in full time education with nearly every student sponsored by our amazing supporters.

Trustees November visit

Both schools

We are now planning our November trip to visit the school. Our visits are always an amazing, rewarding, fantastic experience.

If any sponsors would like us to take a small gift or letter we are always happy to do that.

Our next big project

Nursery school

Our original school building is in desperate need of attention. The current roof has been battered by the summer storms and the Headmaster has asked to raise it to keep it cooler as it can get hot inside for the young kids. ALL DONATIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.!

The Teaching Team

The teaching team is an extremely important cog in this machine and we have a great group of teachers. Jarra is one teacher that deserves a mention. She has recently clocked up 10 years at the school. Its dedication like that that really benefits the students.

The best way for young children to learn is always through song.!!
