Welcome to Kafuta Tumbung School Trust.!!

Kafuta Tumbung is a village deep in the Gambian countryside. The school project began with a chance visit to the village by Derick and Lisa in January 2012, with the creation of the Nursery School opening in September of that year.

We are currently building a new Lower Basic School on the same plot and have 250+ children in full time education with nearly every student sponsored by our amazing supporters.

Trustees January visit

Both schools

Our visit to the school in January was an amazing, rewarding, fantastic experience.

We were greeted enthusiastically by the whole village and the children were so happy to see us again. Their confidence and English skills grow impressively with every visit.

The progress that the students are making really has to be seen to be believed. They really have blossomed over the years, not just in their education but their confidence in speaking to us on a one to one basis has improved tremendously.

The Teaching Team

The teaching team is an extremely important cog in this machine and we have a great group of teachers. Jarra is one teacher that deserves a mention. She has recently clocked up 10 years at the school. Its dedication like that that really benefits the students.

The best way for young children to learn is always through song.!!
