Welcome to Kafuta Tumbung School Trust.!!

Kafuta Tumbung is a village deep in the Gambian countryside. The school project began with a chance visit to the village by Derick and Lisa in January 2012, with the creation of the Nursery School opening in September of that year.

We built a new Lower Basic School on the same plot and opened to the students in 2023. We now have 200+ children in full time education with nearly every student sponsored by our amazing supporters.

Trustees November 2024 visit

Both schools

The school Trustees had a fantastic visit in November and were greeted by all the children resplendent in their uniforms. The day consisted of school progress reports, speeches, awards, games, food and topped off by some fantastic cultural performances.

Our next big project

Nursery school

The renovation of the Nursery roof has begun. Our original school building is in desperate need of attention and the Headmaster has asked for it to be raised to keep it cooler as it can get hot inside for the young kids. ALL DONATIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.!

Regional Spelling Bee

Lower Basic school

Last year the school finished a creditable 3rd against older children. This year the school again represented by Tenneng and Omar finished a fantastic 1st.!! An absolute amazing achievement against far bigger schools and older children. This school is a winning team.!

The best way for young children to learn is always through song.!!
